PAYMENT POLICIES

Your motor, powerhead, or customer remanufacture can be secured with a $500 deposit made via credit card,  personal check, bank wire, cash or certified check.  Final payments for all purchases must be made by guaranteed funds such as bank wire, cashiers check or cash.  Personal checks may be accepted with pre-approval.  Any payments made via personal (or business checks) will be held for 5 to 10 business days following deposits to ensure clearance.  Please do not ask for an exception to this policy as it is recommended by our financial institution.

WARRANTY POLICY

Please contact our Shop Manager immediately with any warranty concerns or claims.  Your salesman will not be able to assist you with these issues.  Any warranty issues are handled directly by our Shop Manager

SHIPPING PROGRAM WITH FEDEX AND UPS FREIGHT

We work almost exclusively with FedEx and UPS freight for the shipment of our motors and powerheads.  We can handle both your inbound and freight shipments through our discount program (which is 80% to 90% off their standard rates – discount is dependent  on your region) and pass the savings on to you.  Both Economy and priority shipments are available.  Priority shipments tend to cost approximately 20% more and usually save you 1 day shipping time.

When preparing to send your unit in for repair or core exchange, contact us with your pick-up information, including NAME, ADDRESS, PHONE NUMBER AND AN EMAIL ADDRESS (to send shipment paperwork)…as well as if the pick-up is at a business or residence and whether a lift-gate is needed to load.  We will provide you with the necessary paperwork to ensure Blackbird Motors is billed for the shipment so we can pass OUR savings on to YOU!

Extreme care is taken to ensure your motor is shipped trouble free.  Sometimes, however minor adjustments or repairs, which are a normal part of installation, must be made.  These are your responsibility.

REMANUFACTURED POWERHEADS

THIS IS A ONE YEAR POWERHEAD PARTS WARRANTY ONLY, STARTING FROM THE DATE OF RECEIVING YOUR MOTOR.  The parts sent to us on your powerhead are checked at the time of the remanufacturing.  If defective parts need to be replaced, Blackbird Motors will contact you to advise you as to what, if any, parts you will need to purchase (i.e. crank, block, spark plugs, powerpack, etc).  All shipping, travel, removal, towing, and installation will be the responsibility and at the expense of the purchaser.  Additional warranties may be available.  Our Plus-Four Year Warranty Extension is available for most applications unless otherwise specified.  This additional protection MUST be purchased at the time of covered purchase or service.

COMPLETE MOTORS

When purchasing a complete motor, you acknowledge that it is a REMANUFACTURED USED MOTOR, which may include used compatible parts for that motor with a remanufactured powerhead.  Complete motors sold also include a 30 day warranty on the lower unit, electrical parts, fuel and power trim components.

USED ENGINES

When purchasing a USED ENGINE, you acknowledge that the engine is sold as-is with no warranty unless otherwise stated. ALL USED ENGINE SALES ARE FINAL.  30, 60, and 90 day warranty’s are available for purchase at additional cost.

Warranty Claims Information

All shipping, travel, removal, towing and installation will be the responsibility and at the expense of the purchaser.  Blackbird Motors must make all repairs and/or replacements UNLESS otherwise authorized, in advance, by us.  Due to the nature of our business, the replacement parts may be used parts.  Blackbird Motors is NOT liable for the loss of use, failures due to abuse, competition usage, improper service, modifications, environmental corrosion, purchaser’s neglect and or lack of proper care and maintenance (such as water pumps and cooling systems including thermostats).  ALL FOUR-STROKE MOTORS MUST HAVE PROOF OF SCHEDULED FACTORY MAINTENANCE WHICH INCLUDES OIL AND ALL FILTERS CHANGED EVERY 100 HOURS.  FAILURE TO DO THIS WILL RESULT IN ENGINE FAILURE AND WILL NOT BE COVERED UNDER OUR WARRANTY GUIDELINES.

NOT under warranty are failures due to fuel related problems such as dirty fuel systems, WATER IN THE FUEL (note: ethanol in gas can cause this so check your tank periodically), detonation, including carburetors, fuel pump, fuel lines and tank, alcohol/ethanol additives or improper lubrication due to oil system failure.  MOTORS USED COMMERCIALLY ARE NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY.

THIS IS A PARTS REPLACEMENT WARRANTY  AND BLACKBIRD MOTORS CANNOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR FAILURES THAT OCCUR AFTER THIS WARRANTY PERIOD.  If you have any questions or need assistance, please call us.

Warranty is valid only if all invoices are paid in full!

Warranty is non-transferable.

Your Responsibilities

You must operate and maintain your Outboard motor in a normal manner.  It is your responsibility to maintain your Outboard motor by performing all of the necessary scheduled periodic maintenance.   Normal maintenance parts and labor needed to maintain your Outboard motor and the normal replacement of parts due to normal wear and deterioration are also your responsibility.  The warranty does not provide coverage for these items. Did you check your gas and oil tank for water?!!!
